''Lardington Lark''

Characters
The Students:
Terry Barnes - a junior, attractive but not gorgeous, very interested in songwriting. Terry is a natural leader, though she doesn't understand why. She is optimistic and looks for the best in people. Terry is also worried about her parents' relationship. She is at Lardington mostly because she wants to study under Mr. V.
Derek Adams - a senior. Cute but not handsome, above average height. He enjoys chess, history, and playing the drums. Often in need of someone to tell him what to do, though he'd argue forever that he doesn't.
Maggie Sherman - eighteen, would normally be a senior. Thin with reddish hair and glasses. A single child in a very wealthy home, she is self-absorbed though not unlikable. She dresses impeccably, while her frequent changes of hairstyles and glasses are less successful.
Sandy, Julie, Rachel - seniors, likebly ditsy co-editors of the yearbook.
Hoover - a senior. The leader of ''Hoover's Hood''. A good-looking jock type used to being a big fish in a small pond.
Abigail, Brad, Cindy, Roger, Yolanda, Tom, Evelyn, Joey, Erika, Les Tower, Feisty Student
The Faculty:
Mr. V (Larry Vale) - late thirties, dresses casually while teaching. A successful songwriter who gave up fame and fortune for family. Happy with his life, involved with his community, he very much enjoys helping his students learn how to write better songs.
Martin Mathis - mid-forties, short, roundish, single. Dresses nattily in striped suits and bowties. He is musically talented and intellectually curious, very interested in computers and chess, man versus machines in general. Also remembers what it was like to be a student and is more tolerant of marginal teenage behavior than other teachers are.
Dawn Nash - blonde, plump, in her middle thirties. Artistic, somewhat scatter-brained, will play the helpless female when it helps her to. Full of energy, well-meaning and jovial, she wears her heart on her sleeve.
Gaylord Bullock - tall, good looking, in his early forties. A man of contradictions. Interested in commitments but unwilling to tie himself down. Athletic, interested in bringing attention to less popular sports like badmitten.
Penny Fine - a statuesque figure but with less than a perfect face or perfect life. Most interested in raising social awareness in her students. Has a sick mother who's a constant worry.
Other Characters:
Dean Etter - tall, in his late fifties, with a proper patronly look about him. He is in his nineteenth year at Lardington. He finds the world changing too fast around him to keep up with but is very good at the public relations aspects of his job.
Mrs. Summer - mid-fifties, came to Lardington a year after the Dean and has been a very efficient assistant since, often anticipating problems before the Dean does.
Mr. Lasker - heavy-set, in his mid-fifties, though he looks ten years older. His face has a three-day old stubble, he dresses in overalls and a T-shirt, there are dark rings beneath his eyes. In his twenty-fifth year as Lardington's maintenance man. Very uncomfortable being the focus of
people's attention. Loves basements, caves and other underground places.
Officer Anderson - in his early thirties, tall, barrel-chested. Not the sharpest tool in the shed but thorough about collecting facts.
